So I am SO late at posting this incredible session of Lauren and Steven. Before an incredible program called BlogStomp came into my life, I was horrible at blogging and would almost dread it just thinking about how long it was going to take me to prep a blog post. I loved blogging, hated prepping! So this session unfortunately fell in the time frame of "pre-blogstomp", and it was never shared with the world. Until NOW!
These two are about to be married in 32 days, so what better time than now to reflect back on their engagement session with us?! I'll share a quick little back story on how I met the couple you're about to meet...Lauren used to live next door to me! She still lives next door to my family, and her sister and one of my sisters grew up together basically attached at the hip. We unfortunately didn't get to talk much while I lived there, but I had seen her here and there and knew she and Steven had been together for awhile.
Fast forward to spring of 2016 when these two got engaged! I remember seeing the sweet photos of Steven's surprise proposal on Lauren's Facebook page and was so very thrilled for them to be engaged at last!
A few weeks later, I'm at my parents house walking the dogs and Lauren's Dad came home. I was near their yard with the dogs so he walked over to talk real quick. He asked if I was available on October 7th, 2017 and if he could pass my information along to Lauren because she was currently looking for a wedding photographer. I of course said YES and gave him a card.
Shortly after that, I heard from Lauren and we met up at Starbucks to go over all the details of our packages and how the booking process goes. We met for over an hour and I absolutely loved catching up with her and hearing how the past few years of life had been for her. She told me all about her and Steven's relationship and I got so very hopeful that we could get the honor of capturing this next chapter of their love story! These two are the sweetest.
Shortly after that, Lauren booked us and we began planning for their engagement photos! She and Steven are super laid back and adventurous, so she told me to choose the spot and to feel free to take them to do any kind of crazy session that I have always dreamed of. She basically told me to go as BIG as I wanted to go with their photos! She also said they were up for driving if need be, and Highlands, North Carolina was the first thing that came to mind. I took full advantage of this opportunity to shoot big.
We went with Highlands and chose all our favorite spots that we always dreamed of taking pictures of a couple at. This session took place during last year's wildfires, so while that concerned me a bit that we may not have the views and clarity we were hoping for, it ended up adding an incredible aspect to the look of the photos. You'll see that we stopped at an overlook for some epic shots, and the smoke in the air just made it look so perfect.
I'm so glad Lauren and Steven trusted us with our crazy adventurous session idea, and I'm so glad we got to have them to execute it all with!! This session was a bucket list idea of ours, and it did not disappoint. It turned out even better than I could have imagined and that is all thanks to these two. Lauren did awesome coordinating the perfect outfits to fit the scenery, and they both did so well in front of the camera together.
AH! I love these two and these photos! But enough of my gushing, you HAVE to see these photos!
Can't wait for October 7th!! :)
