I have always wanted to do a "behind the scenes" blog post, but never made the time to do so! I've saved pictures in a folder for it for years and decided that this year was THE year this post was finally going to happen! So here it is!
These photos are not just from this year but from the past 3 or so years. We sadly don't have pictures from every wedding, or event, or session we have done, but we will work on that in the future! I will do my best to try to get one of these blog posts posted once a year from now on!
It was so fun to look back over our many shoots in this way! What I've learned:
-I make weird faces.
-I wear the same clothes. Like, I think I've had 3 different outfits my whole career for weddings. I've realized this of course when I get ready for each wedding, but now that I see it in photos, I may need new clothes. When you find the right work clothes, it's hard to keep searching when you found the right fit! However, RIP to my floral shirt that you will see in so many photos. It fell victim to somehow being torn at a wedding this past summer. It will be missed.
-We have lots of different tired faces.
-My elbow finds it's way into many photos.
-Charlie is always happy. Unless he's tired. Then he just looks straight up tired.
-We have the best, craziest, weirdest job ever. I love it.
-I need to do better at getting more photos like these because they are golden to me.
Please enjoy these mostly embarrassing photos below that I may regret later for posting! Yay!
This was from....almost 3 years ago..? What?! But that is my sister and this was obviously from her maternity photos. Dean, her son, is now 2. So yea, these aren't recent photos.
Priscilla and Chase's wedding! It was a HOT but perfect day:)
Seeing this again made me laugh and I had to document this just because I didn't think Charlie would believe me. I did this current wedding without Charlie as a special pricing option for the couple, so this wedding was all me. And this sweet man came very prepared for photos as a guest! It was all good though. We talked during the reception and he was very sweet!
Shooting for Christmas in Dacula I think this was?
The Mays wedding!
Failed decor shot
Whenever I find photos like this of me, I am always amazed at how much I don't know what I look like...
Fixing the dress...
Fixing the dress...
And apparently giving up on the dress and walking away...? I promise I'm happy here! This is what I would call "my seriously on a time crunch" face.
Charlie gettin it
And getting it good!
Maybe I was showing them how to dance next to a no parking sign?
Always be fixing the dress. #photographerlife
The Foundry at Puritan Mill is surrounded by windows and Charlie and I had way too much fun with them during the in-between moments. This was me waiting for the Bridal Party to come down the alley and enter the reception
Waiting and being total goobers
When everyone is waiting for the bridal party and has their eyes on the door...and you step through first...
I always do my best to ensure that Charlie can help me with hanging the dress. Me being 5'3 doesn't make it super easy to do that task. But he gets a thumbs up every time
Please excuse me while I go try to get over my sudden baby fever from these next few photos...
Charlie is a people-person for sure.
And a goober sometimes. And I promise he doesn't always have his shirt untucked at weddings.
And we're back to waiting at the windows
Awww. We're so weird. ;)
We at Charlie and Morgan Photography can't stand to not show you some of your photos!
I was waiting at the end of the aisle and noticed this guest looking through her photos...I definitely ruined that shot. Sorry ma'am!
Charlie and I tend to get a little excited about detail shots and don't look before stepping into each other's shots. You'll see the trend.
Charlie works hard for the veil drop-and-run shot, and I'd like to share all the hilarious shots to prove it to you now...enjoy.
It gets better
Photographing our dear friend's pregnancy announcement photos in Cade's Cove was definitely a highlight of the year! And it was a photo bucket list item checked off!
Charlie had a GREAT day!
Fun Fact: Charlie has a huge passion for nature and landscape photography and he's very good at it too.
This is Charlie trying to view his photos without any glares on the screen.
This was also still in Cade's Cove and we really wanted a shot with a fish. We put Charlie on the task of catching that fish and he gladly accepted to do so. Another fun fact: Charlie loves to fly fish. I loved watching the small crowd gather to watch him catch a fish.
When the room is perfect but there are so many mirrors in it that you have to be a magician to not be in one;)
I spy a Charlie!
This was from Chris and Rachel's anniversary shoot! We were going for some up close shots anyways and someone needed to be sitting on the couch
I love the progression of Chris's face in these photos!
It was super hot this day and we were all a little sweaty by this point...some more than others.
No clue what I'm doing here. Sorry Grey and Beth;)
Let's play "Find Charlie!"
I spied our car and we're a little weird and try to remember to document the many adventures our Subaru takes us to. We're not very good at remembering but I took the chance during the reception here
#tired
Light testing and then GO time for First Look!
The many faces of Charlie waiting to photograph the next event
Waltzing into the reception like
When you're 5'3 and sometimes need to stand on a chair during the dancing shots
The officiant brought doughnuts. They looked amazing. I ate one.
These next few shots are what happens when Charlie and I realize we are in the shot and need to move. #failed
This made my night when I first saw this.
When you're a photographer you have to be good with dogs. Charlie passes with flying colors.
Waiting on our sweet couple to arrive to their engagement shoot and taking some work calls in the meantime. He works very hard :)
We love Verity Videography and absolutely loved that we got to work with them a few times this year!
Charlie and I travelled in 2017 more than we ever have for weddings. This next wedding was in New York! It was a trip and wedding that we will never forget and we will forever be grateful to Kaitlyn and Eric for asking us to photograph their day for them!
Bright, beautiful photos right on the Hudson River!
#fixthedress
We loved shooting at Marist College!
When you ruin the moment...
But look cute doing it
Charlie was so happy but, I had to cut Charlie out of the moment...sorry, Charlie.
Love these two!
Just a few quick shots from when we were total tourists in NYC before the wedding!! You can see our blog post about the trip here!: http://www.charlieandmorganphotography.com/blog/2017/9/22/new-york-city-personal-post
The detail placement is key
Photographers need many random talents like...holding the runner down so people don't trip on it.
During family portraits, Charlie calls the shots. Literally. He yells out what shot is next, I take the photo and try to help arrange people. He's very good at it and clearly tries his best to give you a good time while you're going through many photo sets.
As a wedding photographer, it's also very helpful to know how to bustle a dress. I'm still trying my best to improve on this talent but I lend a hand when I can!
When hanging the dress is just the right size for you!
I love seeing Charlie in action. Charlie takes the guys and I take the girls until we all come together for the ceremony or first look. It flows SO much easier that way and is the reason why 2 photographers come with every wedding package.
Somehow I managed to be in the way of 2 photos in 2 different places. I'm amazing.
#tiredface
Photographers! It's a priceless talent to know how to put on boutonnieres. I don't remember teaching Charlie how, I think he actually just observed enough to know it on his own, but it's so good to know how to do it! It also amazes all the coordinators and families when you can help with the extra task!:)
I have so many photos of the back of my head. That's a weird thing to have a lot of.
All the heart eyes.
When you should be taking the time to eat dinner, but you go take advantage of the swing instead ;)
Love to show what we got!
Oh look, the back of my head made it into another test shot!;)
I spy Charlie again;)
This was taken in Savannah right before our first ever wedding there! We were so thrilled to be able to shoot there this summer! We arrived early and took advantage of the chance to have a little lunch date before the wedding.
I'd love to return to Savannah for another wedding so if you know anyone looking for a photographer, we're there!
That time Charlie jumped in to help find the missing bourbon bottle that was buried for good luck and good weather. They buried the bottle before Savannah was hit by 2 hurricanes, so the bottle was a little hard to find. I was introduced to this tradition this year and I think it's the most interesting thing! I'm starting to think it really works though. It did NOT rain until we were unable to recover the bottle. As soon as everyone stopped searching for it, it RAINED! It was a little crazy.
This was a double header weekend for us and at this point, my feet suddenly wanted to give up on me. That doesn't ever happen so I was apparently, tired! Charlie found me sneaking a little sit down.
This wedding had a unique schedule and Charlie didn't have anything to photograph for a few hours, so he crashed in the hall with our stuff for a bit. He didn't complain.

Charlie just hanging out with the sweet Bride's Grandma:)

This was a dream wedding of ours! TPC Sawgrass!
Golf cart rides are the best, especially when you don't have to drive;)
#safetyfirst
Adventures of the Subaru! Everyone had left the wedding and we took a few moments to take everything in and grab a few more fun shots.
Location scouting at Foxhall

W not only loved working with David and Lauren, but also loved getting to meet and work with Evan! He is with Livemore and is an incredible videographer! He is a must hire if you're looking!!
Evan getting the shot!
#tiredface
Need to send these to you, Evan!
Gah. Here comes that baby fever again.
Here are a couple of our iPhone pictures. Pardon them. ;)
We hiked to this spot and these two were total rockstars to do the hike in their nice clothes!!
A quick shot right before the doors opened at our first ever bridal show! That's our booth behind us!
We use what equipment we can;)
We did an awesome wedding on New Years Eve and the couple had everyone shoot confetti at midnight. It made for an incredible shot, and a very colorful floor afterwards.
I feel so incredibly blessed by how many opportunities we have been given over these last few years. So many important days we've been a part of, people we've met, moments we've witnessed. I have loved every minute of it. I also love that I get to do it with this guy right here. He works so very hard to juggle it all and even still is full of so much energy and joy. Thank you, Lord for Charlie and all our wonderful clients and now friends for this amazing journey we have been on so far! We're excited to see what the Lord has in store for us in these years to come!
Thank you!
